This painting is signed and bears some similarity to the sketches done about the time Millet sailed back to the US aboard the SS City of Montreal in 1875; however, the signature is quite different than Millet’s traditional signature developed slightly later than 1875, so the circa date given with this painting may be reasonable, but needs further research.
